Commenting on export figures of the chemicals industry in August, Chairman of Board of the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Assembly (İKMİB), Adil Pelister said: “In August, our chemicals industry achieved 2.6 billion dollars of export value and preserved its ranking as the 2nd highest exporting industry among all industries. In the first 8 months of the year our exports as an industry reached 21 billion
dollars. In this period, our industry increased its exports by 7.7 percent, increasing its exports the most among all industries. Exports contributed to our country’s growth in the second quarter as well. As declared by our Minister of Trade, half of growth in the second quarter of the year came from export of goods and services. As one of the industries that contribute the most to our national growth, we support the measures taken in the scope of fight against inflation, while our industry also requires the governmental support, legal regulations, and facilitated financing. We believe that we can get over this process by fighting as one and in unison. We will continue to work to reach our targets and contribute to our country.”
“Plastics and products” was the highest exported product group in August
Plastics and products became the highest exported chemicals and products product group in August with an export value of 857 million 511 thousand dollars. The second group was mineral fuels and 
products with an export value of 542 million 331 thousand dollars while inorganic chemicals occupied the third place with an export value of 253 million 204 thousand dollars. ‘Inorganic chemicals’ were followed by ‘essential oils, cosmetics and soap’, ‘rubber, rubber products’, ‘paint, varnish, ink, and products,’, ‘pharmaceuticals,’ ‘miscellaneous chemical agents,’ ‘cleaning products,’ and ‘organic chemicals’ in the top ten.
Romania was the highest receiver of exports in August
Romania was the highest receiver of exports in August with 236 million dollars of export value. The top ten receiver of exports in August were Romania, Holland, Russia, USA, Iraq, Germany, Italy, Egypt, England, and Spain. The highest increase in August among the top 10 countries was achieved to Egypt with 117.31 percent.
